Newsletter 24th May 2007

Dear All,

As we approach the first full month of fixtures under the new structure we have both benefited from, and suffered, the usual vagaries of the UK weather.

However, some clubs have already played as many games so far as they did in the whole of last season! I anticipate that by season end we will have achieved our aim of playing significantly more competitive games than in recent years.

As agreed at the AGM in November and re-stated at the fixtures meeting the BYCL committee is keeping the new league structure under review.

The Committee met Tuesday 22nd May to review league progress for each division and detailed discussion of the rules - it was unanimously decided that we are complying with the structure and rules agreed at the AGM in 2006. Consideration was also given to comments and suggestions provided by several clubs and those clubs represented at the committee table.

As some club managers are new it is important that you circulate this reminder and interpretation of the rules newsletter urgently to all your team manager colleagues.

For clarity and interpretation of the rules for 2007

Rule 2 (b)
Every effort must be made to play the match on the date agreed at the fixture meeting means... that only games played in the scheduled week - as published in the handbook - will count for league points.

Please note: All other games will be treated as friendly games = no league points.

Information contained in the Special rules in each age group means...that all divisional games will have completed by that date and does not mean that matches can be re-arranged up and including that date. The published fixture schedule takes precedence.

Divisional secretaries have been instructed to be that consistent in this interpretation.

Any appeals, disputes or escalations must be submitted via Divisional Secretaries for review by the full committee before the 26th June 2007.

Rule 5 (a)
The manager of the winning team is responsible for returning the result sheet to the relevant Divisional Secretary within 3 days of the scheduled fixture taking place. In season 2007 this means by the Tuesday following the week in which the fixture was scheduled in the handbook – see also dispensation of 31st May 2007

In season 2007 the Home Manager is responsible for sending in a result sheet if a game is postponed due to adverse weather under Rule 2 (c)

Tim Dadd of Windsor CC has provided the attached result sheet for use by all team managers.

Please note that an updated result sheet is attached for team manager’s use and we will shortly be requesting that Mark Roche place the result sheet on the Berkshire Cricket Board - Play Cricket website so that it can be downloaded as required. In the meantime it should be copied locally.

31st May 2007
For the 2007 season only and due to the delay in the distribution of the handbook and result sheets...

All Team Managers will be given dispensation until the 31st May 2007 to claim points - using the result sheet - for
• matches already played in the scheduled week, (Rule 2(b) from the start of the season through to matches played week beginning 20th May 2007
• matches cancelled due to adverse weather, Rule 2 (c)
• matches cancelled other than for adverse weather Rule 2 (c)

Winning or Home Managers should submit result sheets for all games as above up to, and including, 31st May 2007 to the relevant Divisional Secretary.
It is understood that the result sheets may not be signed by both managers but they must be dated. E-mail or telephone calls are acceptable for speed, however these must be followed by the result sheets as these will be used in any dispute or final points allocation.

With effect from week beginning 27th May 2007
Divisional Secretaries MUST receive fully completed result sheets by close of play each Tuesday following the scheduled (published) match week which means...
For week beginning 27th May the deadline for Divisional Secretaries to receive the result sheet is Tuesday 5th of June and each Tuesday thereafter.

After 31st May 2007 no result sheet (received by the due date) = no points.

Managers who save result sheets and send them in late will have been warned of the consequences.
